Quarterly Membership Meeting – 20 March 2007
Updated 14
March 2008
Members and prospective new members trickled in from about 6:30 to
about 7:00 pm. There was a minimal
turnout. We discussed the Society and how
it works, and stressed that we are strictly a member-led organization and that
means that members, if they wish to participate in events, must lead
events. We also discussed the fact that
in order to lead an event, members DO NOT have to have done it before, as long
as they state so (called a reconnaissance event or reccy). Also, we agreed that we would post events on
our calendar which were in keeping with the Society’s ideals, but might not
necessarily be led by our members.
Roland and the AGIS project very kindly supplied us with wonderful
food from City View Restaurant, and drinks from the Abuja Horse and Country
Club, who so generously allow us to meet on their pleasant grounds.
Then, it was time for a little bit of business. As we did not have a quorum, we decided to
postpone the election of officers (President, Treasurer, and Secretary) until
our next meeting, which we decided will be 12 June 2007 – and we would meet on
a quarterly basis thereafter. Then, I
gave a quick report about our finances.
Lastly, we discussed the upcoming National meeting in Ile-Ife on the
23-25 and agreed to write a letter to be read at that meeting; and we discussed
future trips before adjourning for the evening.
