Lagbaja Concert, Ikeja

May 25th, 2007

A total of 44 people from NFS had a GREAT all-nighter at the Lagbaja concert at Motherlan' in Ikeja organised by Veronica and Mark Snoxell.  While after midnight may be more of a time to be sound asleep, the 44 of us were 'up' from both the buzz from the crowd and the mix of percussion & voices led by a jazz saxophonist artist in a mask.

After the 'usual' 2+ hour trip across town, there was a superb curry dinner at the Snoxell's and then we headed out to Motherlan.  It's an outdoor theater with good seating, lots of drinks, loads of security and even fresh popcorn for sale!  We arrived 'early', but were well entertained by the warm-up band and were enjoying the clear, dry night.  Around 12:45 AM, Lagbaja emerged from amongst the crowd playing his singature song, which really got the the place going.  Not to say that he is well known, but everyone in the crowd seemed to know every song, kind of  a 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' audience where the whole crowd is totally engaged in the performance.  You can't help but move with the music.

Now that we were wide awake, we enjoyed the music until the first break (at around 4 am) when we called it quits and returned to the Snoxell's hospitality for waffles and coffee, leaving enough time to meet the 7 AM environmental day curfew, still humming the songs.
